Distributor Koch Media, which owns the rights to Saints Row Games, has announced that the next game in the beloved series will be officially announced in 2020.
Already in August, we heard that the next game in the Saints Row series is in “advanced development stages” from the THQ Nordic distributor. Now, in an interview given by GI.biz, Koch Media’s CEO Clemens Kundritsz, GI.biz magazine revealed more details about the full announcement that awaits us next year.
“We really love Saints Row, and we will talk about the next game next year,” Kondritz said. “For now, we want to reassure the fans and make sure you’re on the road, and that he’ll be excellent.”
Koch Media was acquired by THQ Nordic two years ago. Her distributor is Deep Silver, who works with the keys behind games like Shenmue III, Dead Island 2 and of course the Saints Row series.
The last major game in the series is Saints Row IV, released somewhere in 2013, followed by the only return to the series in the form of the 2017 spin-off Agents of Mayhem.

Unfortunately, the mythical developer of the series, Volition, faced financial difficulties and had to release a large portion of its employees shortly after the release of Agents of Mayhem, following Deep Silver’s disappointment with the game’s sales. Kundritsch addressed this event in an interview, explaining how that situation would affect the next game in the Saints Row series, if any.
“The Saints Row series stands by itself, and it’s true that these games are very similar, but in the end each one is a different game,” Kondritz explained. “When it comes to Volition, the creators of Saints Row are there as an in-house studio, and they will focus everyone on developing the next game in this beloved and important series.”
