Although WhatsApp is one of the most popular apps in the world, a feature that many other apps do have is missing: a dark mode.
That will soon change, because a dark mode has now surfaced in the WhatsApp beta version for Android (via Android Authority).
The option does what it says, nothing more and nothing less. It gives you the choice between a light color scheme and a dark one. If you choose the dark one, the backgrounds in the app will be darker so that not much bright light shines in your face.
You can find the option under Settings – Chats – Theme. You do have to have the latest beta version of WhatsApp for Android: version 2.20.13. You only get this if you are a beta tester. Unfortunately you have to be invited for this, because new testers are not allowed at the moment.
Other popular apps with dark fashion are Twitter and Instagram. The Facebook app will also come with the feature soon.
